Located near many rail yards, Radio Antenna Towers are a vital link between train crews, dispatchers and other yard personnel.

Standing at over 70 scale feet tall (that's 9.5"!) and including all of the antenna's featured on the prototype, this stainless steel kit will add considerable depth to any rail yard scene.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Locate the four separate etched frets that will turn into your tower model. Remove etched parts with a sharp hobby knife (be careful and use eye protection!). Reference the bottom of the tower sections by locating the “BLMA” etched on the bottom of the frame.
2. Begin assembly by locating the base of the tower (triangular part with notched corners) and bending the three sides down so the half-etched fold line is on the inside of the bend.
3.Locate the lower part of the two tower sections (the section with mounting tabs extended at the bottom) and locate the small tabs at the top of the tower. Fold these tabs perpendicular to the length of the tower (half-etched fold line facing inward). Next, gently fold the tower sides to create a triangle. Note that the rivet detail should face outward while the small tabs near the top of the tower (previously folded) should face inward.
4. Mount the lower tower mounting tabs into the base (base folded in step #2). Glue the mounting tabs from inside the base.
5. It is imperative that the meeting edges of the tower be secured with glue. For this, we suggest grasping the tower at the lowest point possible (just above where it meets the base) and adding a dab of CA to close the gap and prevent separation. Repeat this process until you have sealed the edges to the top of the lower section.
6. Locate the upper part of the tower and perform steps #3 & 5 to it.
7. At this point, you should have the lower part of the tower mounted into the base as well as the upper tower glued together and rigid. Notice that the top of the lower section and the bottom of the upper section have corresponding mounting tabs (bent in step #3).
8. Add a dab of glue to the outside face of each tab and mount the upper portion of the tower on top of the bottom portion with the vertical meeting edge on the same corner of both sections. Your tower sections should align perfectly and show almost no seam as pictured on the right.
9. Locate the ladders and fold their protruding mounting tabs perpendicular to the ladder. Note the corresponding mounting holes on the tower. The longer ladder mounts on the upper half leaving the shorter ladder to mount on the lower half. The lower ladder is shown mounted to the right (note that is does not extend completely to the base).
10. Lastly, locate the two different types of antennas provided in this kit (one style contains two parts for one assembly). Both antenna styles have mounting arms attached to them that correspond with the truss structure of the tower. Because every tower has the antennas mounted in a unique configuration, please consult the provided photo to aid you in mounting the antennas on your tower.
